Feminine Hygiene Info Now on Healthy Living Section of Site

In our Healthy Living section, we’ve given you tips on how to avoid chemicals in your cosmetics, food, and in many other facets of daily life.  But what about your period?

The vagina is a mucus membrane. It absorbs. If you’re using conventional tampons and pads, your vagina is absorbing pesticide residue and dioxins, both common in conventional feminine hygiene product manufacture, and which have been linked to reproductive health problems.

Check out our new addition to the healthy living section for alternatives to conventional tampons and pads, and a more complete explanation of what exactly is in conventional feminine hygiene products.

Thanks, PP, for looking after our health. I am a little disturbed that you are doing so with what is obviously a brand ad. Other manufacturers (Natracare comes to mind, there are others) make similar products and have long track record of looking out for women’s health. I hope you will consider providing good information about the risks of chemicals in feminine products without favoring one brand in the future.

Susan, thank you very much for your comment. We were unaware of Natracare, but are more than happy to spread the word about them. Our goal is to equip our readers with as much information as possible so they may make healthier decisions and live healthier lives. Can you please email me with more info about that brand and any others you know of? (alafayette@ppnne.org) Thanks again for your help and suggestions! Amy, PPNNE

There is also fresh control, the feminine wash. It’s a non soap cleanser that has the same PH as the vagina as well as being hypoallergenic and non scented. :)

    Have you tried this wash?

  5. Nancy Says:

yes I have actually. I have had really great results.
