Chemicals IN the Body

There are many ways to ingest chemicals into the body, but below is a list of tips about how you can reduce that risk.

Feminine Hygiene Products:

Well, they do go IN your body.  We have a whole section dedicated to why pesticide-free organic cotton should not be up next to your mucus membranes.  You can read it here.

Food:

  • Try to eat organic when possible. If no organic options are available, talk to the school’s food services manager. Ask they explore some options.
  • The most important organic choices are celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, bell peppers, spinach, kale, cherries, potatoes, and grapes. These are items that tend to include the largest amounts of harmful pesticides.
  • Be fair. When snacking, consider buying fair trade items, especially coffee and chocolate as much as possible.
  • If you can't afford or manage organic everything or most things, just try organic dairy. Read why.
